It’s a Hallmark and Dancing With the Stars reunion! Hallmark-turned-Great American Family-star Danica McKellar will be surrounded by two friendly faces in the upcoming GAF movie, Swing Into Romance. Who is in the Swing into Romance cast? Keep reading to find out.
Swing Into Romance is part of the network’s Autumn Harvest program event. The film follows former dancer Christine Sims (played by Danica McKellar), who temporarily returns to her hometown for the Fall Festival and finds out that her family’s General Store isn’t doing well. To save her family’s business, Christine needs to put back on her dancing shoes and face her ex-fiancé, falling in love along the way.
“I’ve been wanting to dance in a movie since I was on Dancing with the Stars in 2014, but I’ve always loved dancing,” McKellar told People in July 2023. “My mom was a professional dancer before I was born, so the love of dance is in my genes.” McKellar is also an executive producer on the film and her husband, Scott Sveslosky, wrote the story. Swing into Romance will air in September 2023.

Danica McKellar (Christine Sims)
The Wonder Years’ star Danica McKellar will be playing Christine Sims in Swing into Romance. She was one of the first Hallmark Channel actors (along with Candance Cameron Bure) in 2023 to sign a non-exclusive deal with Great American Family. She’s already appeared in GAF’s The Winter Palace and is slated to also star in a Royal Christmas Ball airing on the network during the 2023 holiday season.
As for her husband’s involvement in writing the story for the film, she explained to People: “Back in 2017, I told my husband that I wanted to play a math teacher in a movie, and he wrote the story for a movie that ended up being called Campfire Kiss, and I did that for Hallmark,” she described. “More recently, I said, ‘I really want to dance in a movie,’ and he wrote this story.”
McKellar continued: “He’s not a writer! He’s a lawyer. He just is good at putting together ideas when I really want to do something. And it’s just fun to have that knowledge that he’s a part of this.”
David Haydn-Jones
McKellar will be reuniting with Hallmark and Supernatural actor David Haydn-Jones for GAF’s Swing into Romance. The pair starred opposite each other back in 2016 for the Hallmark Christmas movie, My Christmas Dream.
“The uber-talented and charming David Haydn-Jones and I did a Christmas movie together in 2016, and it was awesome to work with him again in Swing Into Romance! Our chemistry is great, and I was so impressed at how much dance he learned in a very short amount of time,” McKellar wrote in her Instagram post.
Gleb Savchenko (Alex Ivanov)
If you remember in 2014, McKellar competed on Season 18 of Dancing with the Stars (unfortunately, Savchenko didn’t appear on that specific season). In the same Instagram post, McKellar revealed that Savchenko will make his acting debut with Swing into Romance. The dancing pro share his excitement for the forthcoming film on his personal Instagram page, along with a collage of photos from set.
