Cue the curlicues! Katie Holmes was spotted on the Brooklyn, NYC set of her upcoming film All We Had on Thursday, Aug. 6, with a fresh tousled lob hairstyle.
Holmes, 36—who’s both directing and starring in the literary adaptation about a single mom and her 13-year-old daughter, living on the edge of poverty—also modeled a plaid button-up blouse and distressed skinny jeans.
It’s a huge change for the mom to 9-year-old Suri Cruise, whose long, milk-chocolate tresses are her signature style. That said, Holmes did work a blunt bob wig (with bangs!) at the 2015 Met Ball—a style very close to the Victoria Beckham-style cut she rocked from 2007 to 2009, when she was still married to Tom Cruise.

However, this look is decidedly more carefree—and a close match to the springy locks of her on-screen daughter, Stefania Owen, which perhaps explains the inspiration behind the sweet re-styling.
Regardless of the style, Holmes’ enviable locks (she does rep Alterna haircare, after all!) continue to look shiny and strong—something she credits to professionals. “Fortunately, I have always worked with really wonderful hairstylists on set, and they’ve taken great care of my hair,” Holmes told Marie Clarie UK in 2014. But she also noted, “I’ve only dyed my hair once, so I haven’t put it through too much damage.”
