On 6 December 1994, Giannis Antetokounmpo was born to parents who immigrated to the country from Nigeria, in 1991. His father was Charles Antetokounmpo a professional footballer and his mother Veronica Antetokounmpo was an athlete.
He was raised along with his two elder brothers Francis and Thanasis and two younger brothers, Kostas and Alexis. His parents struggled very hard to support a family of eight. From 2009 to 2012, Giannis Antetokounmpo represented the youth team of Filathlitikos. He gave a brilliant performance in every quarter of the game and helped his side win numerous fixtures. In 2012, he became a member of Filathlitikos’s senior squad and represented the club in the Greek A2 Basket League for the 2012-13 Season.
In 2013, he was qualified as a singular participant for the ‘Greek League All-Star Game’.
