Our beloved Earlene Delores Painter Speller,80 years of age, on July 10, 2023, departed to her heavenly home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Earlene was born to the late Morris and Earlene Painter on July 16, 1944, in Norfolk, VA. She was the middle child, two preceded her in death, David Painter, and Steven painter.  Earlene completed her education through Norfolk Public Schools, where she graduated with honors from Booker T. Washington in 1962. That same year in 1962, Earlene married the late Charles Speller, and two children were born from this union, Charles Anthony Speller (Proceeded in death), and Michael Speller of Vienna, VA.

Earlene professed her life to Christ at an early. She became a dedicated servant to lord as she joined First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk Virginia.  Where she served for over 50 years years. She loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord. Serving on several committees.She was a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels, delivering food to the elderly and sick and shut in.

In 1974, Earlene and Charles relocated to Portsmouth, Virginia. Earlene was a hard and dedicated worker, who later would retire from Norfolk, Naval Shipyard. Where she was an electrician in shop 51. Upon retiring she focused much of her energy in taking care of the home she built with her husband of 50 years, (late)Charles Speller. Within that home, Earlene nurtured her love of cooking by providing hot meals to all who would enter her home, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Earlene loved to read her bible, praying for and with others, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.”

Earlene was predeceased by her parents, Morris, and Earlene Speller, (Brothers) Steven Painter, and David Painter. (Aunt) Velma James. Her forever love, Charles Speller. She leaves to cherish her memory her Son Michael Speller, (Grandchildren) Barbara Natisha Tyson, Charles Pittman, Mikela Genae Speller. (Great-grandchildren)Mikiyah Tyson, Mason Tyson, Madison Tyson, Charli Speller. Kali Pittman, Charles Pittman.(Nephew )Richard Speller, (Sister-in-Law) Shirley Speller-Short. (Cousins)Nathaniel Painter, Evelyn  Painter Willoughby , Elona Painter. Along with a host of relatives and friends.
